CK-12 Get Real

Past Winners

During the first edition of the Get-Real Competition, we received hundreds of high quality submissions from all around the country by extremely talented students (supported by great teachers!). It was difficult to narrow it down to the top 2, but here were the winners. We hope these inspire you!

Sample Real World Applications

A real-world application (RWA) offers opportunities to explore how a concept or a set of related concepts can be used to solve real-life problems, explain natural phenomena, or integrate different cross-disciplinary subject areas. Real world applications can make a difference in the way we learn and teach and understand our world. See the video below for an example:

What is the Get-Real Competition?

Students are invited to show their creativity in learning K-12 concepts and also challenge themselves (and fellow students!). We ask students to put on their thinking caps, get creative, and create clear practical examples showing STEM Concepts in action in the real world. They have a chance to win their choice of iPads, Kindles, or Chromebooks for their whole class! Multiple submissions are accepted, and they can come in many formats (See Rules for details). Think – how does kinetic and potential energy change while on a roller coaster ride!
