About CK-12

The CK-12 Foundation was founded with the mission to enable everyone to learn in his or her own way. We pair high quality content with the latest relevant technologies. We equip students, teachers, and parents with everything they need. For free.

CK-12 uses a FlexBook® platform to allow for customization of content and focuses on concept-based learning to allow students to access multiple methods for learning a particular topic.

FAQ

What’s involved in this program in addition to the weekly webinars?

In addition to the weekly core webinar, there will be sessions with power users, other opportunities to ask questions, online resources, and a forum. The aim is to provide plenty of different ways in which users can participate, ask questions, and share their experiences.

What happens if I go on vacation and miss a week?

If you miss a week, check the Jumpstart webpage for a recording of the webinar and a review of key ideas and questions. While we will have a record of people who join us for the webinar, participation in any of the Jumpstart activities is voluntary.

Can I get professional development through my district for participating in the program?

CK-12 will gladly provide documentation of your participation in weekly webinars and any proof of content published on our site. Participants looking for this documentation should submit the matching Google Forms for CK-12’s verification.

What will I be able to do on CK-12 by the end of the six weeks?

Users will be able to navigate CK-12 resources, finish customizing a FlexBook®, generate assessments – or use CK-12’s current adaptive practice, and track student progress through CK-12 or one of the integrated LMS systems.

What can I do now to prepare for Jumpstart or extend my knowledge of CK-12?

Explore CK-12’s resources. See our Back to School 2016 overview. Check out CK-12’s Help Center for general information. Email jumpstart@ck12.org with any questions. Keep checking out this page for updated information.

Become a Champion for CK-12

For all of you who’ve been asking how you can say thank you to CK-12 for the amazing content and interactives we offer, we want to give you some ideas for how you can pay it forward. Our hope is that many of you will become Champions for the CK-12 Foundation by taking some (or all) of the following steps:

  1. Publish your book.
Others have shared their work through their school pages and the community contributed tab.
Now that you’ve begun making your own customized FlexBook®, let others use the resources you have created.
  2. Get students using CK-12.
Think beyond the book. Textbooks are just one way of learning. Sign-up your students for CK-12 (or have them create their own accounts). Encourage students try out interactives, download the practice app, and explore concepts.
  3. Stay connected.
Continue to ask questions, post ideas, and share resources in the Jumpstart forum or our subject area groups. See other educators’ stories and share your own on our community page. Email us and tell us how you’re using CK-12 and any successes you’re having. We love sharing tweets and highlighting professionals using CK-12 in the classroom.
  4. Share CK-12 with others.
Speak with other departments or other districts and share your use of CK-12 and participation in this program. Run a workshop to train your colleagues, or volunteer to train others outside your district. Spread the word using our handy materials to help you inform fellow teachers, parents, and students about CK-12. Present about your experience using CK-12 at a local or national conference.
  5. Demonstrate what CK-12 can do.
Submit a case study of your school. Be a research school and track student progress – then share the stats with us to help us show others how CK-12 can improve student learning.

We thank you for your continued interest and hope that we have inspired you to explore new ideas and ways students can learn.
